High Tide?

Those darn kids .... fooling around at the Irving Nature Park. You can see this from the entrance by the flagpoles.

Harbour Bridge opens west bound lanes

Wow! Is it true? West bound lanes open on the bridge? Apparently so according to CHSJ News.

Checking the NB Dept Transportation news release .... still a ways to go.

Santa Parades

I've noticed a lot of conversation lately on the early arrival of Christmas decorations and music in stores, and whether mid November is too early to start reminding us that we should spend our money asap.  I imagine retailers are very anxious to have us spend our money ....  the Lancaster Santa Parade, one of many on the greater SJ area,  is scheduled for November 26th.

Colourful Mailboxes

I've noticed these colourful mailboxes around town, emblazoned with postal codes from across Canada. They are kind of cool.

Everyone's an artist

Sunday was a great day for a stroll on Saint's Rest beach. I happened upon the remains of some sweet artwork left for all to enjoy.  Here's an example below.

Snow fencing or snow plows?

I don't recall ever seeing snow fencing installed during the winter on the overpass on Lancaster Avenue - it is now.   I guess it's an effective way to keep snow off the highway below -  now that there will be fewer plows to do the job.

Moosehead lays off 27 - sounds ominous

CBC posted a story about the layoff announcement made last week by Moosehead Breweries. It doesn't sound good.

Get HECK from SJ Energy

I picked up my free HECK (Home Energy Conservation Kit) at Saint John Energy today. Apparently the promotion went very well and all 2000 kits were spoken for soon after the promotion was announced.

Park at Reversing Falls Bridge

Here's a shot (poor quality - taken from the car) of workers installing what looks like a piece of sculpture at the small park overlooking the Reversing Falls on the east side of the bridge.  This area was the site of an Irving gas station and in 1974 an explosion occurred and tragically lives were lost.  I have heard over the years that a memorial was going to be installed on the site.

I must admit that after all this time I haven't visited the area. It would provide a great  view, no doubt.
